Together we can
learn more intensively and grow more effectively

The Peter Gerdsen Foundation is a non-profit foundation based in Trier. Our commitment is centered on our attitude and responsibility to communicatively connect our own self-understanding with the self-understanding of others. We are not only authors and editors, but also promote competitions and serve as jury members for the foundation's awards.

Projects of the Peter Gerdsen Foundation are financed through the foundation’s endowment.

The Peter Gerdsen Foundation works closely with the Research Center for Transcultural Thinking and Intercultural Action .

The purpose of the foundation is to promote culture, science, and research. The foundation's primary goal is not only to promote the principle of dialogic thinking for intercultural and interreligious encounters at the national and international levels, but also to develop a practical form of interreligious and intercultural coexistence through active dialogue. This goal aims to initiate a process of raising awareness for international understanding and tolerance in our multicultural and multireligious society.

These activities reflect the dialogic spirit of Peter Gerdsen (see §1), whose work represents a plea for peaceful coexistence based on the principles of charity. Therefore, the foundation also strives to publish, translate, and make his work accessible to interested parties. Furthermore, the journal "Yearbook of Thought – Journal of German Culture" was founded to promote intercultural and interreligious dialogue on a scientific basis. To further the foundation's mission, conferences and seminars are also organized to facilitate open and dialogic exchange.
