The program of the series
Building blocks for Mensching research
published by Traugott Bautz
The encounter with other cultures in the present and the recent political events make it essential to engage with new approaches to peace and educational tasks.
The series is dedicated to Gustav Mensching. It aims to demonstrate why many peace approaches ultimately prove to be merely intracultural, and why a new, intercultural approach to tolerance is needed. The overarching goal is thus to publish findings from the systematic study of tolerance hermeneutics. The series aims to give impetus to this change and place applied tolerance at the center of research. The aim is to foster a new intercultural philosophical reflection and orientation that will provide the necessary impetus for a well-founded engagement with the questions and conditions of intercultural and interreligious dialogue.
Interculturality and intercultural understanding are not only a moral obligation, but also a societal task that is gaining increasing importance. The need to address this challenge opens the boundaries of traditional religious studies to other applied disciplines. This is where Applied Religious Studies comes in, opening up a thematic spectrum that ranges from the recognition of intercultural pathologies to dialogic cultural anthropology.
